San Antonio College ranked among Top 10 in 2020 Best Online Community Colleges in Texas

San Antonio College President Dr. Robert Vela is excited to announce that SAC has been named one of the 2020 Top Ten Community Colleges in Texas by the national Guide to Online Schools, Optimal.com.

San Antonio College ranks No. 8 among the 25 best community colleges in the state. Three other Alamo Community Colleges District campuses also made the list: Palo Alto, No. 9; St. Phillips, No. 10; and Northwest Vista, No.18.

Ranking Formula
Each community college ranked by several important factors, including retention rate, graduation rate, percentage of online enrollment data and the number of online associate degrees offered. Criteria also included a manually researched tuition rate.

Eligible schools were ranked according to their scores, calculated according to an internal formula that incorporates retention rate, online enrollment percentage and the number of online associate degrees offered.

Fully Online Status
Schools with programs that require some on-campus coursework were still considered for rankings if all in-person work could be completed in two weeks or less. This allows students to retain their current employment or attend to other personal responsibilities.
