Program Admission

All applicants must be in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing and have an active nursing license. All prerequisite courses have been completed and have earned transfer credit if an individual is transferring from another institution. Applicants that are graduates of San Antonio College Nursing Program have first priority on admission.

The admission requirements for the RN-BSN Bridge program is:

  • Photocopy of Texas Board of Nursing RN Licensure and verification of license status on the state Board of Nursing Website.
  • Copy of official transcripts and all official transcripts need to be sent to Admissions and Records
  • One Letter of recommendation
  • Proof of completion at an Associate Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher education that is accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency or a Diploma in Nursing from an institution that is accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency
  • Licensure- All applicants must have a current, unencumbered Texas or an Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact RN license to begin the program.
  • Pending Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) approval, F-1 visa holders are not eligible to apply for the program at this time.

 Individuals seeking admission to the program should have:

  1. Complete all prerequisite core requirement courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a C or higher in each course prior to applying to the program.

  1. Complete the online application and submit all required documentation by uploading them in the application. 
    All additional documentation can be scanned and submitted with the application under “Upload Transcript” in PDF only format. Name/identify the document by using the “College/University name” area.
  2. Provide evidence that license is unencumbered current for Texas or an Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact RN License.
  3. One letter of recommendation (1) from a previous employer or (1) from current employer.

 

Official Filing Periods

The applicant is eligible to apply twice a year for the fall and spring terms with limited space available. The application will remain open, identify which semester is preferred.

Scholarship opportunity specifically for the RN to BSN students available through the Alamo Colleges Foundation.  For the 2023-24 academic year, the Foundation Application is now open and will close on May 15, 2023.
