About WHM 2019

Throughout the month of March, SAC will celebrate Women's History Month (WHM) with several events, panel discussions, and lectures.

Events are free and open to the public.

29th Annual San Antonio International Women's Day March & Rally
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tues., Mar. 5

WHM Dance Party
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
SAC Mall Area

This fun event will feature sidewalk chalk art, vendors, free paletas and more! Music provided by two of San Antonio's top female DJs!

HERstory! Pop-Up Exhibit 
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Moody Learning Center, 4th Floor Performance Area

Students will present a poster exhibit highlighting notable feminists in herstory.

The F Word Panel Discussion
6 to 8 p.m.
McAllister Fine Arts Auditorium

Join the SAC community for an informational discussion about feminisms in the 21st century. Light refreshments following the event. 

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Sarah E. Erickson,  Assistant Professor of Communication at Trinity University
  • Dr. Sobia Khan, SAC Dean of Academic Success
  • Sofia Sepulveda, Healthcare Organizer with Texas Organizing Project
  • Ana Sandoval, San Antonio District 7 Councilwoman

Guest Speaker Patricia Castillo from the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative will discuss how visionary women can be champions of peace and non-violence. Co-sponsored by the SAC Empowerment Center.

Get inspired by some of San Anto's prominent Latinx entrepreneurs including Cristina Martinez from Very That, Rebel Mariposa of La Botanica, and Kayla Matta of Sunshine Bakery. Co-sponsored by SAC Mexican American Studies.

Are you body positive? This event will feature wellness activities including a showcase of SAC's female athletes and a local roller derby team. Co-sponsored by the Office of Student Life.
