SAC to Host CTE CyberNet Academy for High School Teachers

San Antonio College’s CIS/Computer Science Program will host The CTE CyberNet: San Antonio Academy this summer for high school CTE teachers. The summer online program is a professional development initiative sponsored by the Department of Education to strengthen cybersecurity education in America’s high schools. Teachers who enroll in the program will gain skills and resources needed to effectively prepare students for cybersecurity education and careers.
San Antonio College is one of only three schools in the nation selected by the Department of Education to offer the CTE CyberNet program.
High School teachers who enroll in the CTE Cybernet: San Antonio Academy will receive:
- A $1500 stipend
- Seven-week summer remote professional development period starting June 22-August 7(the first and last week will be five 4-hour sessions, the remainder weeks will be two 4 hours sessions per week)
- A full year of personalized mentorship and curriculum support from experts
- Access to a national network of cybersecurity teachers
- Recognition for excellence in cybersecurity education
The first cohort of CTE CyberNet teachers will participate in local professional development academies beginning in summer 2020. In the first stage, participants will attend a seven-week remote summer session, which will include approximately 80 hours of professional development and resources. Participants will continue this professional development in a nine-month accelerator throughout the 2020-2021 academic year.
