Dr. Savithra Eratne Named Interim Dean for Performance Excellence

Dr. Savithra Eratne has been appointed as Interim Dean for Performance Excellence at San Antonio College. He will report to Dr. Stella Lovato, Vice President of College Services.
As Dean of Performance Excellence, he will be responsible for the Offices of Institutional Research and Effectiveness as well as Measurement and Evaluation.
In addition, he will continue his work as Director of Institutional Research, a position he has held since 2014.
Prior to that, Eratne had been a senior systems administrator for Information Technology Services and an assistant director for Institutional Research for the Alamo Colleges District. He is also an adjunct faculty/assistant professor in electrical engineering and computer science.
Eratne earned his doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
Eratne is a strong supporter of culture of evidence and data aware decision making. He is passionate about data democracy and access, and equity and accountability substantiated through data. His current interests are in predictive modeling and projections.
He is currently a Fellow of the Strategic Data Project in the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University.
