Lenell Clay Named Interim Director of Outreach and Recruitment/Enrollment Services

Lenell Clay has been named the Interim Director of the Office of Outreach and Recruitment/Enrollment Services. He takes the place of Amy Chay Peña, who is serving as an interim Dean for Student Success.

As director, he will be responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of first-time in college, transfer, returning former, and transient students.

Clay began his career at SAC in 2015 as an administrative assistant for the San Antonio College Manpower Labor Office. He worked within the Department of Partnerships and extended services to promote college awareness. He also visited elementary and middle schools to promote pursuing a college education after high school.

In 2016, he became an advisor and later, senior advisor and enrollment coach, for SAC. In his position, he provided outreach, recruitment, and onboarding services, including help with financial aid and scholarship guidance.

Clay would later be named team lead for the Duran Welcome Center and Enrollment Lab, where he coordinated the work of enrollment coaches, support staff and work study staff. He also assisted enrollment coaches and support staff with the promotion of college programs and events in the community. In addition, he collaborated with faculty and staff to provide enrollment services to incoming students.

Clay holds a Bachelor of Science in business management information systems from Indiana State University.
