A new report has recognized San Antonio college as one of the “Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges” in 2020.

The study was commissioned by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and the journal Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. According the report, the study was undertaken to examine the “extent to which diversity and inclusion” are a part of the work place at two-year community and technical colleges.

The list of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges “includes an impressive cast of 2-year institutions that specialize in equipping students for securing the bright promises of their future,” said the report. “Promising Places is a national recognition that celebrates student affairs workplaces that are vibrant, diverse, supportive and committed to staff work-life balance, professional development, and inclusive excellence.”

“This recognition truly validates our commitment to providing an institutional culture deeply rooted in diversity, inclusion and equity,” said Dr. Robert Vela, President of SAC. “By embracing a culture of equity, we empower our students to value their voice and purpose.”

In addition to San Antonio College, Northeast Lakeview College and Northwest Vista College in the Alamo Colleges District were also recognized in the study. In all, 16 colleges from across the nation were named to the list of Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges.
