The League of United American Citizens (LULAC) offers an extraordinary scholarship opportunity for parents and their young children. The Tom Morton Sandoval  Parent/Child Scholarship program offers a $1,000 scholarship for a parent and two free years of college for a child six years or younger once they reach college age.

The scholarship program is managed by the San Antonio College Department of Services for Women and Non-traditional Students (SWANS) and seeks to ensure the educational success of two generations. Honored in 2007 with the prestigious STAR Award by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and selected as a finalist in the 2008 Excelencia in Education Award, the program provides support, assistance and incentives for parents to successfully complete their educational objectives at an Alamo College.

To learn more about the program and to see if you are qualified to apply, visit alamo.edu/sac/swans/scholarships. Priority deadline is Friday, May 31. For additional information, call the Empowerment Center at 210-486-0455 or email Bertha Castellanos at bcastellanos6@alamo.edu.
