SAC President Search

San Antonio College seeks a new president to lead our Aspen Prize-winning institution into the future. The president will report to the chancellor of the Alamo Colleges District and serve on the District Senior Leadership Team, which comprises college and district leaders who further the mission of the college and the district. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and visionary individual with a true passion for the mission of community colleges.

Meet the Finalist

Dr. Naydeen González-De Jesús
Executive Vice President of Student Success
Milwaukee Area Technical College

dr-de-jesus-360.jpgDr. Naydeen González-De Jesús harnesses a unique blend of international public diplomacy, research and higher education experience to drive sustainable change management as Executive Vice President, Student Success at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC).

She believes in empowering her team with data to drive systemic change centered on equity and excellence — and she believes in the power of education as the greatest equalizer. At MATC, Dr. González-De Jesús puts this philosophy into action, bringing together academics and student services in a new structure to ensure collaborative strategy and implementation that improves students' educational experience and their preparation for post-graduation success. In this role, she has led the development and execution of a new Academic Multiyear Plan, Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan and a Holistic Health & Wellness Plan. Dr. González-De Jesus also ensured the collaborative connection between these plans and the college’s new Facilities Multiyear Plan, connecting the college’s future physical footprint to the needs of students and programs. She oversees the vice presidents of Enrollment Management, Learning, and Retention and Completion, as well as executive directors of regional campuses and the executive director of Community Education, Hispanic Serving Initiatives, and Strategic Engagement. Dr. González-De Jesús plays a vital role in the college’s commitment to the nationally-recognized Guided Pathways framework to help more students succeed. She worked to expand M-Cubed, a collaborative effort between University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools to increase college access, retention, and post-graduate success through workforce development and living wage jobs. A member of the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeastern Wisconsin, Dr. Gonzalez-De Jesus supported the creation of bilingual business entrepreneurship programs through Workforce Solutions. Under her leadership, MATC has continued to strengthen its service to military students and their families by securing the 2022-23 Military Friendly School recognition.

Prior to arriving at MATC, she served as Public Diplomacy Officer for the U.S. Embassy in Argentina. There, she co-developed an Education Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Argentina during the 2018 G20 World Summit to expand collegiate partnerships between the two countries, strengthened existing and opened new Education USA centers around the country, expanded the Fulbright program to include a more diverse cohort, established English-language learning programs and liaised public-private partnerships to provide financial support for Friends of Fulbright program participants.

During her tenure at Bergen Community College that preceded her diplomatic service, Dr. González-De Jesús conceptualized and launched the Bellwether award-nominated Project Graduation. This program improved retention and graduation rates year after year and developed clear pathways towards transfer and workforce entry.

A 2022-23 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow and a 2010 Leadership Fellow of the National Community College Hispanic Council, Dr. González-De Jesús holds a doctorate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Northcentral University in Arizona, a master’s degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University in New Jersey, and a bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University.
