Return to Campus: Summer 2021

Summer Regis_1080x228.jpg

As you know, San Antonio College began this year at Level 5: Stay Home, Work Safe.

Fortunately, in the last few months we have seen the risk level for the virus decrease and the number of people receiving a vaccine has grown dramatically as it becomes more available.

Because of this good news, we can take careful, gradual steps to open the SAC campus. We have developed the following timeline to begin implementing a return. Please keep in mind that this timeline is subject to change, depending on coronavirus developments in our area.

  • May 2021:
Plan for Level 4 up to 10% capacity
    effective May 3, 2021
  • Summer 2021:
Plan for Level 3 up to 25% capacity
    effective May 31, 2021
  • Fall 2021:
Plans for Level 2 up to 50% with a contingency plan for Level I up to 75% capacity

Keep Learning Plan

The coronavirus pandemic has forced students to make tough decisions that disrupt their academic progress. Some are choosing between continuing their educational paths and meeting basic needs, such as paying rent and utilities, buying food, child care and health care.

We have a plan to keep students in college and on track in the face of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis. Our Keep Learning Plan relieves the financial burden of tuition and fees through scholarships.

Four strategies for financial relief to help you stay in college:

Financial Help for Early Childhood Care

The early childhood program has funds from a Department of Education CCAMPIS grant to help pay for childcare for students with children from six-months to five-years.

Students enrolled in CTE programs can apply for the CCAMPIS grant to help pay for off-campus care at select accredited early childhood programs. Through the grant, parents enrolled in the program will only have to pay $15 - $20 per week for childcare. The grant is open to other SAC students with young children as well.

To remain eligible for the grant, students must complete these requirements:

  • Earn grades of C or higher in all courses
  • Maintain enrollment in a minimum of nine credit hours
  • Check ACES email on a daily basis
  • Attend three scheduled parent workshops
  • Meet with child’s teacher
  • Complete four volunteer hours
  • Meet all required deadlines for submitting documentation
