What is the St. Philip’s College Biology Pre-Nursing pre-major?
The Department of Natural Sciences supports the mission of the college in meeting the educational goals of students who are preparing for entry into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Nursing pre-major will provide the student with the educational foundation needed to transfer into a BSN program.
What will I learn?
The Pre-Nursing pre-major is designed for students who intend to apply for admission to a BSN program at the end of their second year by offering general education courses required by the institution in conjunction with pre-requisite courses which prepare students for an upper-division nursing curriculum.
What can I do with this course of study?
Achievement of an Associate of Science in Biology Pre-Nursing will prepare you for acceptance into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
What's special about the program?
The department recognizes that the interaction between faculty and students is one of the most significant ingredients for student success. Therefore, access to the faculty is provided through small classes, regular posted office hours, and pairing of students with a certified academic advisor. The Byrd Tutoring Center in the William C. Davis Science Building is also available with faculty, tutors, and learning materials to promote student success.
