The St. Philip’s College Department of Tourism, Hospitality, & Culinary Arts received a $10,000 donation from the Cowboy Breakfast Foundation to support student scholarships. For over 20 years, the department has partnered with the foundation to produce their annual Cowboy Breakfast — the official kick-off event for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo season. Through their partnership, the THCA department has received over $250,000 in scholarship donations.

The Cowboy Breakfast was private for the second year due to COVID-19 however, students were still able to participate and prepare breakfast for San Antonio first responders. This year was the first time the breakfast preparation took place in the new Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts building located on the Martin Luther King campus. Students prepared approximately 6,500 tacos for the San Antonio police and fire departments.

The annual Cowboy Breakfast is one of many opportunities offered to students in the THCA programs. Last year, St. Philip’s College and the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and Global Engagement Office collaborated to participate in an international chef exchange with San Antonio Sister City Gwangju, South Korea during the virtual Gwangju World Kimchi Festival. Students from the International Cuisine class learned from a renowned kimchi master and San Antonio Chef Ambassador Stephen Paprocki.

The THCA programs at St. Philip’s College prepare aspiring hospitality industry professionals for success and service within their industry. In 2021, St. Philip's College was named to the 10 Best Culinary Schools in Texas list by Best Value Schools (BVS). Programs are recognized as exemplary by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the American Culinary Federation.
