E-APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE WORLD’S LEADING COMMUNITY COLLEGE ADVANCED MANUFACTURING JOBS PROGRAM ANNUAL RECRUITMENT EVENT---THE TEXAS FEDERATION FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING EDUCATION OPEN HOUSE AT ST. PHILIP’S COLLEGE NOV. 3
The world’s leading community college advanced manufacturing jobs program at St. Philip’s College announced today e-applications for its signature annual recruitment event in partnership with San Antonio’s $40 billion manufacturing business community---the free Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education class of 2019 Open House recruitment event Nov. 3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Room 117 of the Alamo Colleges District Center for Workforce Excellence (Bldg. 8) at 800 Quintana Road. More than 60 applicants have e-registered as of noon today (Nov. 2), and they can also complete the e-application to lift their prospects to a higher level, organizers report.
Prospective candidates receive real-time information about this combined paid business education-and-training program, meet college and corporate representatives, and learn what it takes to earn a certification as an Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) with the elite of San Antonio’s $40 billion advanced manufacturing business community, explained Donlee Wilson and John Haral. Wilson is the college’s advanced manufacturing technology program coordinator, and Haral is college’s aircraft, construction, and manufacturing department chair.
The college and the federation recruit 40 students each year, with classes starting in the fall. St. Philip's College's unique associate of applied science advanced manufacturing technology degree program in partnership with TX FAME is a business opportunity featuring a college degree following two years of paid employment in advanced manufacturing at the facilities of sponsoring employers CPS Energy, H-E-B, Takata, Toyota and Toyotetsu Texas, Inc. Three St. Philip's College alumni cohorts of the program have worked three days a week for sponsoring employers, and upon graduation each of the alumni became eligible for an entry-level full-time position with their sponsoring employers. Women and minorities are well-represented among the alumni of this program, both Wilson and Haral shared.
