St. Philip's College Welcomed Over 800 Scouts During the Fall 2019 Boy Scout Merit Badge University Event

St. Philip's College welcomed over 800 Scouts, in grades 6th-12th (ages 11-17), during the Boy Scout Merit Badge University (MBU) event on November 2, 2019.

The one-day event was hosted by the Boy Scouts of America and the Alamo Area Council for Boy Scouts to provide an opportunity to earn merit badges while serving our community. Scouts can collect up to four badges during the event to help towards their journey in achieving their Eagle Scout rank.

St. Philip's College launched its first merit badge university project in partnership with the local Boy Scouts leadership in 2014 where approximately 3,200 merit badges were earned by over 800 Boy Scouts. This year, the program observed its first co-ed event that welcomed girl scouts who are also working towards their Eagle Scout rank.

The MBU is a bi-annual event held in the months of May and November.
