Jeffrey French Named Director of Strategic Initiatives

Jeffrey W. French, Retired U.S. Army Colonel, has joined St. Philip’s College as Director of Strategic Initiatives. French brings 28-years of results-oriented domestic and international experiences in program management, operations and development. As a leader in regional operations, French is adept in developing strategic-level solutions and leading change through creative and collaborative team-building.
“I’m excited to be joining the St. Philip’s College team and look forward to adding value to the College’s mission. While we live in challenging times, education remains the path to our community and nation’s future. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be on the front lines of education efforts in San Antonio,” said French.
In his role, he will support the college in the framing, evaluation, and implementation of strategic projects, process improvements and organizational change initiatives and serve as a resource for quality enhancement efforts.
“We are excited to have Jeffrey join the team, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to help complement our strategic initiatives. As we continue our excellence journey and define our new normal, we welcome his expertise and collaborative approach,” said SPC President Dr. Adena Williams Loston.
French graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1991 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and U.S. Army War College.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Infantryman Badge and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Arts in Military History from Texas A&M University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He retired from military service in October 2019.
French and his wife, Katherine, are the proud parents of three children: Kyle, Sarah and Annemarie.
