February 28, 2022
St. Philip’s College (SPC) and Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (TX FAME) announced the addition of a third cohort as part of SPC’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) program. The new cohort brings ten additional apprentice spots for students to earn while they learn, bringing the total number of employer sponsorships to 50.
Through the TX FAME AMT program, students earn an Associate of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology while working for a TX FAME company. In this two-year apprenticeship, individuals attend classes two days a week and spend the remaining three days at their sponsoring company. Current TX FAME companies include Toyota, H-E-B, CPS Energy, Caterpillar, Joyson Safety Systems, Metalsa, C.H. Gunther & Son, Kautex, Toyotetsu, Tower Semiconductor, Navistar, and Avanzar.
Since partnering with TX FAME in 2016, 73 St. Philip’s College students have completed the TX FAME AMT program with 98% of them successfully employed after graduation. Graduates are highly sought after by the industry's top employers offering a rewarding career in the rapidly growing industry.
Nineteen students are expected to complete the program as part of the Spring 2022 cohort this May. Applications for Fall 2022 are currently being accepted. To learn more about the TX FAME AMT Program or on how to apply, click here.
