Dear H-E-B, Thank you so much for awarding me the H-E-B Scholarship. I am truly honored and grateful to be an H-E-B Scholar. This scholarship is especially meaningful to me because I have been a longtime H-E-B customer and have always viewed H-E-B as more than just a grocery store. H-E-B has been a part of my community and my family's everyday life for many years, so receiving my very first scholarship from H-E-B makes this opportunity even more special to me.
My journey back to school has been a significant life change. After spending 15 years working in the banking industry, I decided it was time to pursue a different path and follow my goal of working in the medical field. I am currently working toward completing my prerequisites so that I can enter a sonography program and eventually pursue a career in medical diagnostic sonography. I hope to build a career where I can help others and make a positive difference in the lives of my patients. I also hope to show my children that hard work, perseverance, and determination can open doors to new possibilities.
I am not only a student, but also a mother of four, an employee, and the person responsible for keeping our household moving. I work part-time, and because my schedule is not set, my workdays can start very early or end very late. When I am not working or attending school, there are still homework assignments and projects to help my children with, while making sure my own assignments are completed as well. I try to make sure my children have home-cooked meals as often as possible, keep up with their school activities and responsibilities, and, most importantly, remain present in their lives. They are a huge part of why I keep pushing forward. Although balancing all of these responsibilities can be difficult, my family is also one of my greatest motivations. My oldest daughter is a senior in high school and will soon begin her own college journey. I want to be a positive example for her and for my other children by showing them that it is never too late to pursue an education, make a career change, or work toward a new goal. I want my children to see that even when life is busy and challenging, we can continue moving forward and make our goals a priority.
Receiving the H-E-B Scholarship has shown me that H-E-B truly cares about the people it serves. At a time when I am working hard to balance school, work, and raising my family, it means so much to feel supported in my educational journey. This scholarship will help relieve some of the financial stress that comes with attending college and will allow me to focus more of my energy on my education and preparing for a career in medical diagnostic sonography. Thank you again, H-E-B, for investing in my education, believing in my potential, and showing my family and I that the everyday person matters to you. I am proud to be an H-E-B Scholar, and I will carry this support with me as I continue working toward my educational and career goals.
