Dear H-E-B , I am writing to express my gratitude for your generous support for the H-E-B Scholarship. This is not just me, the recipient, thanking you, but on behalf of my family, who are going above and beyond to save for my education. We thank you endlessly for this gift, as we are currently in a financial struggle and worried about providing for my education.
I am a Hispanic, first-generation student of immigrants, a student overjoyed with the opportunity to pursue an education. I grew up in San Antonio, TX, with my family who have dreams for me and are pushing me to be successful. I chose Alamo Colleges for its sense of community and strong reputation for preparing students for success. I'm overjoyed to take my first steps here and see what this campus has in store for me. My ultimate goal is to live my dream in the medical field, to be a doctor who positively impacts patients' lives while lifting their burdens. I am currently working non-stop to reach my academic goals, and with your gift, I’ll overcome the financial obstacles hindering me from a successful future.
I began my journey in high school, being mentored at a hospital specializing in surgery, giving an out-of-school presentation on anesthesiology, and now, being accepted for a caregiving job to further expand my knowledge and experience with patients. Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time volunteering and giving back to my community. I currently have over a hundred hours volunteering and plan to continue throughout my lifetime. It's generous people like you who inspire me to make a difference in my community, the same way supports been given to my family. With tears in my eyes, I and the Silva family thank you for your support and for allowing me to financially pursue my career.
