Dear H-E-B, Thank you for awarding me the H-E-B Scholarship and for giving me the opportunity to be an H-E-B Scholar. I am truly grateful for your generosity and support as I continue my education at San Antonio College. My decision to pursue higher education comes from wanting to build a stronger foundation for the next chapter of my career. Returning to school has required balancing my education with the responsibilities and challenges of every day life, but I remain committed to completing my degree and improving my future. Being able to continue my education while managing fatherhood has given me an opportunity to teach my sons the importance of persistence, discipline, and staying committed to long term goals.
I am currently studying Human Resource Management at San Antonio College. My goal is to use my education to return to the civilian workforce, with the hope of working in a Human Resource position on post supporting my military community. I want to use the skills and knowledge I gain through my education to build a meaningful career and continue contributing to the community in a different capacity. With over ten years of work experience and a background in the military, I have developed strong problem solving and leadership skills. In one instance, I was responsible for creating a night watch schedule that had to account for soldiers medical needs, restrictions, and overall well being while still meeting operational requirements. This experience taught me how to balance individual needs with organizational goals, something I believe is essential in Human Resources. My academic goal is to earn my bachelors degree in Human Resource Management and continue building the knowledge needed to support both employees and organizations effectively.
Receiving the H-E-B Scholarship makes a meaningful difference because it helps reduce some of the financial pressure that comes with pursuing my education. More importantly, knowing that HEB is willing to invest in students like me is encouraging and motivates me to work even harder toward my goals.
