Dr. Dan Herrick Named Interim Chair for Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Information Systems

San Antonio College is pleased to announce that Dr. Dan Herrick has been named Interim Chair of the Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Information Systems.

Dan Herrick web.jpgDr. Herrick has served SAC for seven years, most recently as Program Coordinator for Philosophy. A Michigan native, he holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Classics from Kenyon College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Princeton University.

He has worked extensively with SAC’s Ascender program and with the college’s dual credit and early college partners, including the Alamo Academies, Travis Early College High School, Fox Tech’s HTECH program, and Boerne ISD.

Much of his recent work has also centered on the Honors Academy, where he has supported students and promoted undergraduate research since 2022. Dr. Herrick has served on multiple hiring committees across disciplines – including Philosophy, Math, Engineering, and Computer Information Systems – and has been an active member of SAC’s Quality Enhancement Plan Steering Committee since 2024.

In addition to his academic leadership, Dr. Herrick is known for his long-standing involvement in campus life and community wellness. He has been a founding faculty sponsor of the SAC Philosophy Club and has worked closely with the Kinesiology Department through SAC’s K-Club, helping promote fitness and engagement across the college community.
