Dr. Kimberly Wells Named Interim Director of Honors Academy
February 9, 2026
San Antonio College is pleased to announce that Dr. Kimberly Wells has been named Interim Director of the Honors Academy.
Dr. Wells joined SAC in 2021 as a professor of English and began teaching in the Honors Academy in 2022. A first-generation college graduate, her work is shaped by a deep belief in the power of education to transform lives — an understanding grounded in her own academic journey as a non-traditional Honors student.
She earned her Ph.D. in American Literature from Texas A&M University and brings more than 20 years of teaching experience across middle school, high school, and higher education, including positions at Texas State University, Texas A&M University, community colleges, and liberal arts institutions. She also founded, edited, and published a women’s literary website for more than 20 years, founded her own small publishing company through which she published two print anthologies.
At SAC, Dr. Wells has focused on supporting first-generation and working-class students while promoting undergraduate research, writing, and experiential learning opportunities through the Honors Academy.
As Interim Director, she looks forward to expanding honors courses, mentorship, and research opportunities, and to helping students see themselves as scholars capable of achieving their academic and professional goals.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Wells on this interim leadership role.
