Dr. Gene Sprague, a radiology and pharmacology professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSC), was elected to his second term on the Board in the May 6, 2000 general election. He was first elected to the Board in District 6 in 1994. Sprague holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, a master's in reproductive biology from Colorado State University and a bachelor's in biology from Northwestern University. He is the recipient of numerous awards in his field and has authored many articles for scientific publications. Sprague was instrumental in the establishment of the Alamo Community College District's, Northwest Vista College.
