The Alamo Colleges District proudly announces the purchase of the Eastside Education and Training Center located at 4551 Dietrich Road.

The former elementary school location, previously leased by the San Antonio Independent School District since Fall 2016, is now officially under Alamo Colleges District ownership. The acquisition was completed at a purchase price of $4 million, with the project partially funded by a $1.5 million federal Economic Development Administration grant.

“This strategic acquisition sets the stage for a significant investment to enhance the facility and better serve the community,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. “This financial commitment underscores the Alamo Colleges District dedication to creating a state-of-the-art learning environment that meets the evolving needs of students and the community.”

With the completion of the purchase, the Alamo Colleges District is poised to make a substantial additional investment of at least $17.7 million into upgrades for the Eastside and Education and Training Center.

The Eastside Education and Training Center was initially established through a collaborative partnership between the Alamo Colleges District, SAISD, and the Eastside Promise Zone of the City of San Antonio.

Today, the facility is a centralized hub that provides community members the resources and support needed to succeed. The center offers an array of programs designed to advance educational and career goals, while incorporating wraparound services and on-site partners dedicated to help address any barriers to success.

Alamo Colleges District’s Education and Training Centers are one-stop centers that meet community workforce training needs. The education and training centers have expanded college, technical and academic options for students across the eight counties the Alamo Colleges District serves.

Since 2018, the centers – with the help of countless community partners – have provided assistance to 35,000 students and community members, including training in high-wage, high-demand industries, adult literacy education, GED preparation and testing, and skills for small businesses.

They also serve as on-ramps to Northwest Vista College, San Antonio College, St. Philip’s College, Palo Alto College, and Northeast Lakeview College.

Currently, the Alamo Colleges District has eight education and training centers and one under construction.
