Alamo Learn goes live at the Office of Technology Services! 04-15-13
Alamo Learn is a web based talent management suite aimed at making the registration and tracking of professional development courses easier and more convenient. The new system has several benefits over the current online registration system, including:
- User-friendliness and comprehensive feature set.
- Reduction in administration overhead.
- Single repository to deliver knowledge
- Easy steps to view professional development and workshop offerings across Alamo Colleges.
- Facilities to track professional development progress and more.
Beginning April 15th, technology training workshop opportunities from the Office of Technology Services department can be accessed via the new and robust Alamo Learn system. To get started, select the Alamo Learn link located on the Office of Technology Services website: http://www.alamo.edu/sac/ots. Alamo Learn is also accessible via ACES within the EMPLOYEE TAB and the ALAMO LEARN channel. For technical issues or assistance, contact our college help desk at (210) 486-0777.

| San Antonio College – New Student Mega Lab on the 5th Floor of MLC 03-18-2013 The new open computer lab – Student Mega Lab is up and running! San Antonio College, Office of Technology Services department is very excited to announce the new open computer lab facility on the 5thFloor of the Moody Learning Center building (Room #531). The new center is open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and is equipped to provide a great technology experience for our students. The Mega lab is staffed by student consultants and includes a mix of Virtualized thin clients, Windows and MAC computers. Shared scanners and laser printers are also available for use. The new Mega Lab will also have monthly workshops that will help our students improve their computer literacy and technology skills.
In addition to the Open Mega Lab, there are several computer classrooms available on the 5thfloor for teaching San Antonio College scheduled classes that require technology. Academic departments can select the Computer Lab Reservation Form to make a reservation request or for additional questions, send an email to sac-megalab@alamo.edu. Lastly, Beginning April 8, the Student Technology Center (STC) services will be merged with the Mega Lab Services. Please come by to see the new facility!

The Office of Technology Services unveils a new Walk-up Technical Support Service - OTS Service Center for SAC Students, Faculty and Staff 02-14-2013
The Office of Technology Services is proud to introduce our new walk-in support center-OTS Service Center. The center is located on the 7th floor of the Moody Learning Center, Room 710. Helpful and friendly staff are available between the hours of 8-5 p.m. to assist students and employees in the areas of computing at San Antonio College. Services include: password resets, application support, basic technical support, short-term equipment loans, faxing service, document scanning service, printing support, email and wireless support. Visit the Service Center to find solutions to the common IT problems. The OTS Service Center is part of the Office of Technology Services department, focused on meeting your technical needs and providing high quality and dependable technical service. We hope that you will find this new service to be helpful and convenient. |

The Office of Technology Services will be closed over the holidays (December 24-January 4) and will reopen on January 7, 2013. For emergencies, please contact the Alamo Colleges Police at 210-222-0911, or dial 9-1-1.
Protect yourself when dealing with technology over the holidays:
- Use and maintain anti-virus software, a firewall , and anti-spyware software
- Keep software, particularly your web browser, up to date
- Evaluate your software's settings
- Do business with reputable vendors
- Take advantage of computer security features
- Be wary of emails requesting information
- Check privacy policies
- Make sure your information is being encrypted
- And for on-line shopping-use a credit card and check your statements
