NVC Alumna Thrives in Career Dedicated to Community Service

Graduate

I am a proud alumna of Northwest Vista College and graduated in 2009 with an Associate of Arts degree. Northwest Vista College allowed me the opportunity to explore career paths and determine what job would ultimately best serve me and others. I like to say I took the "scenic route" when determining what I would end up doing in my career and what would truly bring me happiness, but Northwest Vista allowed me the time and options to make the best decision for me.

I attended at a time when the campus was a lot smaller than it is now, so it’s exciting to see how it has flourished throughout the years. The campus is not far from where I grew up, including where I still live, so knowing there is an amazing resource like Northwest Vista College not far away really brings me joy!

I currently serve as the executive director of a nonprofit called Faith Kitchen. Prior to this role, I served as a director with the San Antonio Food Bank, where I supported more than 300 partners across 29 counties, and led programs connected to public funding, compliance, data, and community impact. I also have experience working with the State of Texas and Health and Human Services, where I worked closely with interdisciplinary teams to support individuals through person-centered planning. I am dedicated to a career of serving others and helping to address issues such as food insecurity and homelessness in our community.

I was born and raised in San Antonio and can’t imagine living anywhere else! I graduated from Antonian College Preparatory High School, and along with my degree from Northwest Vista, I also hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of the Incarnate Word and a master’s degree in public administration with a certification in nonprofit management and leadership from the UT San Antonio.

I pride myself on holding a strong commitment to mission-driven leadership and collaboration and work to exhibit this as an executive director of a nonprofit. I enjoy working on the front lines, connecting with people, and being a public servant.

As the executive director with Faith Kitchen, I work tirelessly to ensure the community knows that this resource is available, and a good meal and good customer service should not be sacrificed regardless of where you are. Helping our neighbors experiencing homelessness needs to be a priority!

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Northwest Vista College provided to me and for allowing me to not only set my goals but meet them.
