Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification Course – Online
Course Approved by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
The Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification Course and Exam is offered through Palo Alto College and is a fully online, Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) approved program designed to prepare dental hygienists and dental assistants to monitor patients receiving nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation in a dental setting.
This comprehensive, 8-hour didactic course, provides the knowledge and skills that are required to meet the State of Texas certification requirements.

- Course Covers history, pharmacology, patient monitoring, equipment operation, infection control, emergency management, and legal/ethical considerations.
Course Requirements:
- Access to an internet-enabled device.
- Payment of Course Fee of $115.
- Completion of all online course modules.
- Passing the final certification exam with a minimum score of 75% (Two attempts available if needed)
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion to submit to the TSBDE for Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification.
