Join Rachael Rodriguez at Palo Alto College for an engaging Vihuela workshop. Learn new skills, improve your technique, and grow as a musician.

Topics include:

  • Fundamentals of the instrument, playing technique, and setting yourself up for success
  • Chordal progressions, styles, and understanding the role of the vihuela within the section and ensemble
  • Incorporating the vihuela into other genres outside of mariachi, such as cumbia, by exploring rhythms, percussion patterns, and grooves

Participants are encouraged to bring their own vihuela.

Rachael Rodriguez

Rachael Rodriguez is a professional Vihuela player and Mariachi educator. Originally from the Midwest, Rachael moved to Los Angeles to join Mariachi Divas and become part of their Grammy-winning legacy. She has performed at venues such as Disneyland and the Hollywood Bowl, often alongside artists like Paquita la del Barrio and Shaila Dúrcal. While Mariachi music is her home, she applies the same principles and instincts to other styles of music
