Palo Alto College will welcome Emmy Award-winning journalist and author Enrique Acevedo for a special installment of the San Antonio Book Festival’s Get Lit Author Series on Wednesday, Oct 28, at 10 a.m. in the Ozuna Library & Learning Center, Legacy Room 101.
Hosted in partnership with the San Antonio Book Festival and the Alamo Colleges District, the free public event will feature a discussion of Acevedo’s new book, Essential: Being Latino and Indispensable in America. Breakfast will be served, followed by a moderated conversation with Acevedo led by Keyhla Calderón-Lugo, Director of Marketing & Strategic Communications at Palo Alto College and also a former Emmy Award- winning journalist. A book signing will follow the discussion.
In Essential, Acevedo blends personal reflection with exploration of the experiences of a community that has become an integral part of the nation’s social, cultural, and economic fabric, even as it continues to navigate complex questions of identity and belonging.
The conversation at Palo Alto College will provide an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and community members to engage with Acevedo’s work and consider the stories, experiences, and perspectives that shape the Latino experience in the United States.
This event is free and open to the public.
