Palo Alto College Hosts JET Grant Ceremony Celebrating More Than $1.1 Million in Career Training Investments

Palo Alto College recently hosted the Texas Workforce Commission’s, Jobs and Education for Texas (JET) Grant Presentation Ceremony, where over $1.1 million in Career Training Grants were presented to four partnering Alamo Area Schools. 

The four JET grants include:

• Ingram Independent School District (ISD): a $91,768 grant to train 37 students as construction managers in partnership with St. Philip’s College.
• Poth ISD: a $331,792 grant to train 45 students as nurses in partnership with Palo Alto College.
• Southside ISD: a $339,750 grant to train 60 students as nurses in partnership with Palo Alto College.
• Southwest ISD: a $350,000 grant to train 60 students as nurses in partnership with Palo Alto College.

As the largest provider of workforce education on San Antonio’s Southside, with over 17,000 students enrolled, 16 Career & Technical Education Programs, and more than a dozen partner high schools. Palo Alto College is directly impacted by this investment from the Texas Workforce Commission. These grants will create more opportunities for students to pursue high-demand careers in fields such as construction and nursing, which are essential to our region and our economy.

Just as important, these investments give students access to the equipment, technology, and hands-on training they need to build skills and be ready for the workforce from day one. At Palo Alto College and throughout the Alamo Colleges District, we know that preparing students for the future takes all of us working together. Our school districts are often where that journey begins, and all five colleges are proud to partner with them to help students move from the classroom to a career. When we create stronger pathways into high-demand fields, we are not only helping students reach their goals, we are also helping employers find the talent they need and strengthening the communities we all serve.
