Turner-Bio-Picture350.jpgSince February 2018, Dr. John Turner has served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Executive Dean for the Brenham Campus. Dr. Turner has overseen the Blinn College District’s disability services, enrollment services, financial aid and scholarships, housing and residential life, resolution management and Title IX, student leadership and activities, testing, crisis management and behavioral intervention, and Blinn-Brenham Campus operations.

A veteran administrator with nearly 30 years of management experience, including 16 in higher education, Turner came to Blinn from Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) in February 2018.

As Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs at LDCC, he served as a senior administrative officer and as the chief academic and student affairs officer, providing oversight for the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and direct oversight of seven satellite campuses and the Louisiana Small Business Development Center.

While Turner oversaw LDCC’s enrollment management, he eliminated barriers to student entry, managed enrollment communications and utilized targeted recruitment strategies that resulted in a 5 percent increase in student headcount between Fall 2016 and Fall 2017, and increased Fall-to-Spring semester retention.

Turner previously served as LDCC’s Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, where he oversaw enrollment management, financial aid, admissions, commencement, outreach and recruitment, new student orientation, state reporting and records, student life, student government, disabilities services, career, and placement services, testing and assessment services, dual enrollment programming, and veteran’s affairs.

While in Brenham, Turner has served as the Chairman of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, president of the Rotary Club of Washington County, and on the Board of Directors for the Washington County Healthy Living Association (Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activities Center). Turner also served as the Blinn College representative for the Washington County Economic Development Foundation.

Turner holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double major in marketing management and organizational communications/public relations. He holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University.
