SAC Opens Victory Center to Serve Veterans and Active Duty Military

Alamo Colleges District - San Antonio College celebrated the opening of its newest building on campus, the $7.6 million Victory Center, which will enable and support veterans and active duty military who come to college. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 1, in conjunction with the start of Military Appreciation Month.

SAC Architecture Program Celebrates 60th Anniversary

On a beautiful, cool spring evening, more than 100 people showed up to the Chance Academic Center (CAC) to celebrate the 60 th  anniversary of the San Antonio College Architecture program. To mark the occasion, students from four Design II studios had collaborated on an artwork that was installed on the second floor of the CAC atrium.

The John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation, a fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation (SAAF), awarded San Antonio College a $500,000 grant for the future John L. Santikos Micronauts Center at San Antonio College.

SAC Engineering Professor, Dan Dimitriu, Receives Prestigious Presidential Honor

Dr. Dan Dimitriu, program coordinator for engineering at San Antonio College, has received the highest U.S. honor given to teachers and mentors in the STEM fields. The White House Office for Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), with the National Science Foundation (NSF), announced Dimitriu received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).

SAC CIS Department Receives $636,000 in Grants for Cybersecurity Program   

San Antonio College has received two separate grants to fund a new cybersecurity pilot program on the campus. The first grant, from the National Science Foundation (NSF), will provide financial support to students in the new program. The second grant, from the Department of Education (DOE), supports technology upgrades for community college cybersecurity programs.
