Transfer Students

STEP 1: Complete and submit your admission application at ApplyTexas.org

Visit applytexas.org to apply for admission. Allow 3-5 business days for processing.

STEP 2: Apply for Financial Aid at FAFSA.gov

Students are encouraged to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at FAFSA.gov Please allow a minimum of four months to complete the financial aid process. SAC Federal School Code: 009163 Visit alamo.edu.district/financial-aid for Priority Processing and Guarantee dates.

STEP 3: Submit all official college transcripts

Official, sealed documents can be submitted in person, mailed to

STEP 4: Log in to your ACES student account

Visit alamoaces.alamo.edu to access your ACES account. Click "Get My ACES Username" and follow the instructions for the default password to log in for the first time. Contact the help desk at 210-486-0777, option 7 for assistance.

  • Activate Your Navigate Checklist
    Click "Start Here" tab, then "Navigate" to access your personalized enrollment checklist.
Complete all of the necessary modules on your ACES account

STEP 5: Click on your ACES "Start Here" tab to complete the Go FAAR and Test Prep modules (if applicable). For technical assistance with the modules, contact the help desk at 210-486-0777, option 7.

STEP 6: Submit proof of your Bacterial Meningitis vaccine, if applicable

Texas state law requires that all entering students, under the age of 22, show evidence of receiving a bacterial meningitis vaccination during the five-year period prior to enrollment; the law allows for a few exemptions. Submit all necessary documents to Magnus Health, including a $10 processing fee, by clicking the "Submit Documents" link on your ACES "Start Here" tab.

STEP 7: Take the TSI college-readiness exam, if required

Students must complete the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) college-readiness exam, if they are not considered exempt. The Assessment Center, located in the Fletcher Administration Center (FAC) 112, determines if transcripts contain appropriate credits to meet the TSI requirement. A list of TSI exemptions are online at alamo.edu/sac/assessment-center. Complete exam fee is $32.

STEP 8: Visit Post-Assessment Advising, if required

Immediately after TSI testing, students receive post-assessment advising, located in the Moody Learning Center (1st Floor). Some students may be required to take a refresher course before proceeding with the enrollment process. Contact Post-Assessment Advising at 210-486-0450 with any questions.

STEP 9: Complete New Student Orientation & register for classes

First time in college students and those with fewer than 15 college credit hours are required to sign up for New Student Orientation (NSO) before registering for classes. Sign up at alamo.edu/sac/orientation

STEP 10: Remember to pay your bill on time or your classes will be dropped

Make tuition payments with cash in person at the Business Office (FAC 201) or with a credit card online via your ACES account. Pay in full or set up an installment plan before the deadlines to avoid being dropped.
