Institutional Review Board (IRB) Public Request for NLC Data
The IRB at Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) is responsible for the ethical review and approval of all research involving human subjects conducted under the college’s auspices. The IRB ensures compliance with federal regulations and protects the rights and welfare of research participants.
IRB Protocol
Scope
The IRB reviews all research projects that:
- Are conducted on NLC property or facilities.
- Are sponsored by NLC.
- Are conducted by NLC employees, students, or agents in connection with their institutional responsibilities.
- Use NLC’s non-public information to identify or contact human subjects.
IRB Review Catagories
Research proposals are reviewed under one of the following categories:
- Exempt Review – Minimal risk and fits specific federal exemption criteria.
- Expedited Review – Minimal risk but does not qualify for exemption.
- Full Board Review – Greater than minimal risk or involves vulnerable populations.
Submission Requirements
Researchers must submit the following:
- Human Subjects Research Protocol (HSRP) form.
- CITI Training Certificates (Basic/Refresher and Responsible Conduct of Research).
- Supporting Documents (e.g., recruitment scripts, consent forms, third-party approvals).
- IRB Completion Report upon conclusion of the study.
Participant Protections
Researchers must:
- Obtain informed consent from participants.
- Ensure confidentiality and data security.
- Report any adverse events immediately to the IRB.
- Avoid coercion or undue influence, especially with vulnerable populations.
