TRIO Student Support Services (SSS)

The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program by the U.S. Department of Education designed to provide comprehensive academic support and resources to help students successfully complete their associate degree and transfer to earn bachelor's degree.  We serve 140 students who attend Northeast Lakeview College.

The primary goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants.

What does TRIO Offer?

TRIO Student Support Services provides individualized counseling for personal, career, and academic guidance. TRIO hosts various workshops and activities designed to acquaint students with career options, and offers exposure to cultural events and academic programs.

All Student Support Services are FREE to students selected to participate.

Academic Coaching and Advising:

Individualized academic support from a designated TRIO- advisor that helps students to shape their academic goals and become effective agents of their own learning.

Career Counseling and Guidance

Career assessments to assist in identifying career goals and corresponding degree programs.

Cultural Events

Attend free cultural events that enrich cultural awareness and experiences.

Degree Planning and Transfer Guidance

Assisting with both short-term decision-making and long-term planning, including course selection, and application assistance for students transferring to a four-year university.  Campus tours to colleges and universities.

Financial Coaching and Literacy

Application assistance for the full range of student financial aid programs, guidance in scholarship searches, education to improve financial literacy.

Resource Connection

Connections to campus and community resources to facilitate students’ personal development and progress toward graduation and career goals.

Tutoring

Group and individualized academic support.  Access to tutorial services to assist with study skills and coursework success.
