Dean for Academic Success Finalists
Open Forums to be held on Friday, February 13
Northeast Lakeview College has selected two finalists for the position of Dean for Academic Success. Each finalist will participate in various department meetings, an open forum and receive a college tour on Friday, February 13. Forums will be held at 10am and 11am in the Lampasas Performing Arts Center.

Julie Kirland-Poirier
Julie Kirkland-Poirier is a distinguished higher education leader with over two decades of experience driving student retention, academic equity, and institutional growth. Currently serving as the Dean for Student Success, Wrap Around Services, Julie oversees a comprehensive portfolio including Advocacy, Career Services, Student Life, Scholarships, and the Veterans Center dedicated to dismantling the financial and emotional barriers to degree completion.
Julie’s expertise spans the entire student lifecycle, from streamlining dual credit partnerships, which grew by 138%, to refining veteran support services that consistently exceed VA audit standards. Her background is rooted in deep instructional experience, having held several Dean and Director roles at the University of North Texas. There, she pioneered leadership curricula and achieved record-breaking retention rates for the College of Arts and Sciences.
An educator at heart, Julie has a proven track record of designing and teaching curricula in global leadership, career development, and developmental mathematics. She also possesses extensive experience managing large-scale tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI) programs, ensuring that academic support is both accessible and effective.
Throughout her career, Julie has become a recognized specialist in strategic enrollment management and holistic student support. As the former Dean for Onboarding and Enrollment, she led a team of 40 to achieve a 37.8% increase in enrollment and a 174% rise in completion rates over a five-year period. Her leadership is defined by a data-driven approach, evidenced by her development of sophisticated scorecards to track FTIC (First Time in College) retention and the implementation of "Institutional Withdrawal" initiatives that proactively re-engage students facing personal hardships.
A staunch advocate for student rights and institutional compliance, Julie serves as a Title IX Lead. In this role, she assisted in creating workflows to support pregnant students in alignment with state legislation and conducted extensive community outreach. She remains at the forefront of educational innovation, currently co-leading the college’s AI implementation strategy and serving on the Teaching and Learning Council to ensure technology serves as a bridge to student success.
Whether navigating the complexities of a global pandemic by transitioning entire divisions to remote readiness or spearheading multi-year strategic priorities, Julie remains a collaborative strategist. She is committed to the mission of social mobility, ensuring that every student from dual credit learners to adult scholars has a clear, supported pathway to a better life.
Mallory Plummer
Mrs. Mallory Plummer is honored and truly grateful to be a candidate for the Dean for Academic Success position. She currently serves as Director of Teaching with Technology at Northwest Vista College, where she partners with faculty and student support teams to strengthen teaching practices, learning supports, and student pathways that help students thrive.
With 15 years of experience across advising, tutoring, instruction, and academic leadership, as well as a former Certified Advisor here at Northeast Lakeview College, Mrs. Plummer brings a deep, personal passion for student success, persistence, learning outcomes and completion. Northeast Lakeview College holds a special place in her professional journey, and she is excited to listen, learn, and engage with the NLC community today. A proud wife and aunt, Mallory brings both heart and strategy to her work.
