Northeast Lakeview College Ranked #11 in National Hacking Competition

Thirty-two Northeast Lakeview College Cyber Defense students, led by faculty members Ell Marquez and Sean Sexton, recently competed in the National Cyber League hacking competition. Students had fifty-six hours over a single weekend to solve as many challenges as possible. Challenges included open-source intelligence (OSINT), Cryptography, Password Cracking, Digital Forensics, Network Traffic Analysis, and Log Analysis. Notably, John Boekhout and Brandon Bruce, both first-year Cyber Defense Students, placed in the top 1% of 7,875 competitors.
NLC students formed four (4) teams to compete against 4,214 other teams from colleges, universities, and graduate schools across the nation. The top team ranked #30 overall with multiple Top 100 rankings across the nine categories. Overall, Northeast Lakeview College was ranked #11 among NSA-CAE Designated colleges and #5 in the Central Region.
