Program Admission

Admission begins with the student’s admission to the Associate Degree nursing program, and continues with completion of the program, successfully passing the NCLEX-RN licensure exam, gaining employment as an RN, and culminating with admission to the projected BSN program. Ultimately, the intent is for all of the SAC Associate Degree graduates to continue on to the RN-BSN program.

Applicants that are graduates of San Antonio College Nursing Program have first priority on admission. All applicants must be in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing and have an active nursing license. All prerequisite courses have been completed and have earned transfer credit if individual is transferring from another institution.

The admission requirements for the RN-BSN Bridge program is:

  • Photocopy of Texas Board of Nursing RN Licensure and verification of license status on the state Board of Nursing Website.
  • Copy of official transcripts and all official transcripts need to be sent to Admissions and Records
  • Two Letters of recommendation
  • Proof of completion at an Associate Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher education that is accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency or a Diploma in Nursing from an institution that is accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency
  • Licensure- All applicants must have a current, unencumbered Texas or an Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact RN license to begin the program.
  • Pending Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) approval, F-1 visa holders are not eligible to apply for the program at this time.

 

 Individuals seeking admission to the program should have:

  1. Complete all prerequisite core requirement courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a C or higher in each course prior to applying to the program.

  1. Complete the online application and submit all required documentation by uploading them in the application. 
    All additional documentation can be scanned and submitted with the application under “Upload Transcript” in PDF only format. Name/identify the document by using the “College/University name” area.
  2. Provide evidence that license is unencumbered current for Texas or an Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact RN License.
  3. Two (2) letters of recommendation (1) from a previous instructor and (1) from current employer on official letterhead.

 

Official Filing Periods

The first cohort admitted into the program will begin in the Fall 2021. At present, the program admits only one time a year. Limited space available.  All requirements of the application must be complete to be considered for admission. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to applying.  Please Note: All additional documentation including letters of recommendation and ADN diploma can be scanned and submitted with the application under “Upload Transcript.” Name/identify the document by using the “Institution Name” area. Once the application is closed, you can not update your application.

Application cycle begins February 1, 2022 thru March 21, 2022
