Solis Appointed As Interim President

Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores has appointed Francisco Solis, J.D., as Interim President following the announcement that Dr. Naydeen González-De Jesús will begin a new role at the Alamo Colleges District office.

Solis, who retired from SAC in May 2023, previously served as Interim President from June 2022 to January 2023 when former SAC President Dr. Robert Vela was named president of Texas A&M Kingsville.

During a 23-year career at SAC, he served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles.

Key positions included professor and coordinator in the mortuary science program,

Dean for Performance Excellence in the Division of College Services, and Director of Learning Assessment and Review in the Department of Integrated Planning and Performance Excellence where he worked closely with college leadership to design, implement, and carry out the strategic plan for the college.

Just prior to his retirement in May 2023, Solis served as Interim Vice President for Academic Success.

Solis contributed to the writing and planning of SAC’s accreditation report to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. He has participated in many award-winning applications resulting in major recognitions for SAC such as the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.  

He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, St. Edward’s University, San Antonio College, and Central Catholic High School.
