Dr. Seabrook Jones New Arts Department Chair

Dr. Seabrook Jones is the new chair of the arts department, which includes architecture, communication design, dance, drama, journalism, music, music business, radio, television and film, and visual arts. The arts department also houses The Sundial, KSYM, and TV-SA.
Jones joined SAC in 2019 and is currently an associate professor of history. She most recently served as the college’s Director of Accreditation and continues to oversee work on the college’s reaffirmation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Jones previously served as the interim chair of the MESSH department (Mexican American studies, early childhood studies, sociology, social work, and history) from 2022-2023. In her time at SAC she has been the lead author on the SACSCOC Fifth Year Interim and Decennial reports, completed a reorganization and rewrite of the Faculty Handbook, and worked with numerous programs on their accreditation self-studies and reports.
Jones earned a doctorate and a master’s in history from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. She previously served as a Fulbright Scholar to South Korea from 2003-2004. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky graduating summa cum laude.
Jones is an active member of the San Antonio theatre community and performs in local musical theatre productions in town and in the hill country.
