As San Antonio College celebrates its Centennial year – marking 100 years of transforming lives through education – the college is proud to recognize a meaningful partnership that continues to change futures.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio (BHFSA) awarded a $100,000 grant scholarship to San Antonio College, providing tuition assistance to 71 students preparing to enter high-demand health care fields.

Students in five programs were eligible:

  • Dental Assisting
  • EMT-Paramedic
  • Human Services – Addiction Counseling
  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing

BHFSA’s mission is to prepare “tomorrow’s healthcare providers and leaders,” and this year’s recipients embody that vision.

Many scholarship recipients are first-generation college students. Others are balancing full-time work, parenthood, recovery journeys, or overcoming profound personal hardship. One nursing student shared that the scholarship “lifted a weight off my shoulders,” allowing her to focus on clinicals and coursework. Another, a single mother rebuilding her life, wrote that the award “reminded me that I am not alone in this journey.” An EMT student noted the funding meant fewer overtime shifts and more time studying to better serve patients in emergency situations.

Across disciplines, students expressed a shared commitment: to give back. Whether aspiring to work in NICUs, emergency departments, addiction counseling, dental clinics, or underserved communities, each recipient is preparing to strengthen the region’s health care workforce.

San Antonio College is deeply grateful for the continued partnership with the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio. In our Centennial year – and as we look boldly toward the next 100 years – we hope to continue and expand this collaboration to ensure future generations of SAC students have access to the education and support needed to serve our community with compassion, skill and excellence.
