The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have designated St. Philip's College as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education- 2 years. The designation covers the academic years 2022 through 2027. For more information about the CAE Community visit, https://caecommunity.org/.
The purpose of the National CAE designation program is to promote higher education in cybersecurity/Information Assurance and prepare a growing number of professionals to meet the need to reduce vulnerabilities in the Nation’s networks. The initial National CAE in CD Education (CAE/IAE) program was started by the NSA in 1998, with DHS joining as a partner in 2004 in response to the President’s National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace.

The National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance 2-Year Education program provides seminars and workshops for those in the program.

SPC Cyber Tigers Nation - Competitive Cybersecurity Team
The SPC Cyber Tigers represent St. Philip’s College in high-impact national and regional cybersecurity competitions, including the National Cyber League (NCL), NCAE Cyber Games, Capture the Flag (CTF) tournaments, and the AFCEA ACE Deloitte Cyber Threat Competition.

National Cyber League – Spring 2025
The SPC Cyber Tigers ranked #79 out of 510 colleges and universities nationwide in the Spring 2025 National Cyber League (NCL). This top-tier placement demonstrates the strength of our hands-on training and the technical expertise of our students. Competitors are challenged with real-world scenarios such as penetration testing, network scanning, cryptanalysis, and digital forensics investigations.3rd Place – CAE Cyber Games (Southwest Region 1)
SPC earned 3rd place in the 2025 CAE Cyber Games – Southwest Region 1, excelling in live-fire defensive operations against simulated red team attacks in an enterprise-like environment. Students also competed in advanced CTF-style puzzle solving and network protection scenarios.AFCEA ACE 2024 – Deloitte Cyber Threat Competition
The Cyber Tigers participated in the AFCEA Alamo ACE Deloitte Cyber Threat Competition, showcasing their threat analysis skills, incident response tactics, and real-time team coordination in a professional-grade simulation environment. -
