St. Philip’s College (SPC) has reached a historic milestone, enrolling more than 20,000 students this academic year, the highest in its 127-year history.

The record enrollment comes after three years of significant growth. Between 2021 and 2024, the college added nearly 5,000 students, pushing total enrollment past 18,000. Last year alone, St. Philip’s saw a 21% increase in students. This is nearly four times the national community college growth rate of 5.4%, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.

St. Philip’s College President Dr. Adena Williams Loston attributes the growth to strategic planning, a shared commitment to student success, and expanded student services.

“This kind of growth is no accident,” Dr Loston said. “It’s the result of strategic planning, a shared mission, and a team dedicated to meeting students where they are.”

This incredible milestone is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication, and passion SPC employees bring to our mission every single day. Whether they’re supporting students behind the scenes or keeping the campus running smoothly with operations, each faculty, staff, and administrator plays a vital role in shaping their success.

St. Philip’s College, part of the Alamo Colleges District, is federally designated as both a historically Black college and a Hispanic-serving institution.
