St. Philip’s College welcomed members of the Chubu Industrial Engineering Association to its Southwest Campus on Sept. 16 for a program highlighting advanced manufacturing and workforce development partnerships.

The delegation of nearly 40, representing 25 leading Japanese manufacturing companies, attended a series of presentations, tours, and discussions designed to showcase St. Philip’s College’s collaborative industry programs.

St. Philip’s College President Dr. Adena Williams Loston opened the program with remarks emphasizing the shared commitment to workforce development and innovation. She recognized leaders from DENSO Corporation and Aisin Corporation, as well as the Texas Japan Office and local partners, for facilitating the visit.

“We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to host such an esteemed delegation,” Dr. Loston said. “St. Philip’s College is proud to be a leader in advanced manufacturing and workforce development for our region. Our programs equip students and future graduates with the skills employers need to drive innovation and sustain economic growth.”

The afternoon featured presentations by college faculty, including Professor Don Fernandez, who discussed St. Philip’s College’s models of collaboration with regional industry partners. Delegates then toured the college’s advanced manufacturing facilities, including automation, electronics, and CNC programs, led by Don Fernandez and Anthony Broderick.
