SPC Cybersecurity Program Ranked As Most Affordable in Nation

St. Philip’s College has been recognized as the most affordable institution in the nation for cybersecurity education, according to a 2026 ranking by Cybersecurity Guide.
The college’s Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity was included on the publication’s list of the most affordable cybersecurity bachelor’s degree programs in the United States. The ranking evaluates the total projected tuition cost per credit required to complete the degree, while also considering program quality and national designation.
To qualify for the 2026 rankings, institutions must hold a Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity designation. St. Philip’s College carries the Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Defense designation, recognizing its commitment to high-quality cybersecurity education and workforce preparation.
Cybersecurity Guide reports that more than 500,000 visitors annually rely on its resources, which include reviews of more than 750 cybersecurity degree programs and contributions from more than 80 experts across academia and industry.
The Bachelor of Applied Technology program at St. Philip’s College is designed to equip students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to address modern cyber threats while meeting the growing workforce demand in the field. Faculty and administrators developed the cybersecurity curriculum in collaboration with industry professionals to ensure students receive hands-on training and practical experience using current cybersecurity tools and techniques.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in cybersecurity-related occupations is projected to grow 31% from 2019 to 2029, significantly faster than the average for all occupations. The Texas Workforce Commission reports that entry-level cybersecurity professionals in Texas earn an average salary of about $64,480 per year.
