Faculty Professional Development
The Instructional Innovation Center (IIC) offers a variety of training sessions and workshops each semester. These programs cover a wide range of topics, including instructional technology tools, accessibility, and effective teaching methods. They are designed to help faculty become familiar with different technology resources and enhance their teaching and learning practices. Additionally, the Professional and Organizational Development Team also provides various training sessions and workshops. IIC Teaching and Learning Resources
Please visit the Instructional Innovation Center (IIC) Teaching and Learning Resources if you are looking for ways to improve your teaching and enhance the learning experience of your students. The IIC Resources offer faculty members access to the latest technology tools and educational strategies to improve your course. It is also an interactive one-stop shop to learn about all of the services that the IIC offers.

Online Teaching Certification
The Online Teaching Certification (OTC) is designed for faculty members who wish to develop and teach courses online or in a hybrid format. The training emphasizes best practices in pedagogy and standards for the online learning environment. It introduces tools for building, facilitating, and assessing online instruction, using the Canvas learning management system (LMS) as the primary delivery platform. This program will help faculty become proficient with the technical aspects of the course platform, as well as develop a solid understanding of effective teaching techniques that foster a successful online classroom environment.
The Instructional Innovation Center/Distance Learning Office (IIC/DLC) is available to assist any faculty member who is seeking guidance from an Instructional Designer. The Online Teaching Certificate (OTC) process is specifically designed for faculty who want to begin designing and teaching online, using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). For more information about the OTC process, please review the NLC-Course Certification Process document.
The OTC will begin:
- Fall: 2nd week of September
- Summer: 2nd week of June
- Spring: 2nd week of February
