Dual Credit Home School

Traditional dual credit is an option for eligible homeschooled students in the Alamo Colleges District service area.  The student will sit in on mixed classes on the college sites and or online through the Distance Learning Program.  The 42-Hour Core Curriculum provides course selection availability for dual credit participants. 

Dual Credit Home School Enrollment Process:

  1. Complete the Alamo College High School Programs Dual Credit Application
  2. Submit an official high school transcript, notarized, with an expected graduation date in MM/DD/YY format.
  3. If applicable - submit official test scores (ACT, SAT, TSI).
  4. Complete AlamoENROLL Modules via ACES.
  5. Testing Information (Optional but Encouraged)
    Alamo Colleges cannot impose assessment requirements for enrollment into dual credit courses for the first 15 credit hours.
      • After you complete 15 credit hours, you must take the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) exam if you don’t have prior coursework to show college readiness. However, we encourage all students to take the TSI early. Doing so can help determine your readiness for college-level work and may help with future course placement.
      • You can take the TSI after your application is processed, and you receive your Banner ID and username (usually within 5 business days).
      • Important: Some dual credit courses have college course prerequisites you must meet before enrolling.
      • Examples:
        • You must complete ENGL 1301 before taking ENGL 1302.
        • You must complete MATH 1314 or MATH 1414 before taking MATH 2412 (Precalculus).

Once the above steps are complete, an onboarding session for new dual credit participants is required. Onboarding sessions are typically available during the registration period. Check with the High School Programs Office for available dates.

Enrollment documents and placement testing must be submitted by the deadline noted on the Admissions and Enrollment Calendar to ensure timely registration.  Student registration is processed by College Personnel.
