Advocacy

As part of a district-wide commitment to student success and meeting the needs of students beyond the classroom, on-campus advocacy centers are available at all five Alamo Colleges. We partner with different organizations to provide services like job assistance, food security, clothing, childcare, utility assistance, and mental health counseling. Student Advocacy Helpline:

NLC Student Parent Liaison Officers
The NLC Student Parent Liaison Officers serve students who are parents or guardians of children under 18 and provides a range of resources to meet their needs that includes: promoting accessibility, privacy, and a comprehensive approach to support the academic and personal success of parenting students. Connect with your peers
There are a lot of students who, like you, are raising children or other dependents in their care. Join the Student Parent Network on the AlamoEXPERIENCE portal to connect with other students with minor children under the age of 18, plus learn about events, resources and service information. All you have to do is click the button below, sign in with your ACES login, and click “Join.”
Childcare
The Alamo Colleges have nationally accredited, high-quality child development centers at four of our colleges. These resources are available to students attending any of the Alamo Colleges. Payment assistance and subsidized rates are available for qualifying students.

Bezos Academy
Bezos Academy preschools are tuition-free for families and offer programming five days a week, for children ages 3-5 years old.
Bezos Academy Universal City is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year!
Located on Northeast Lakeview College’s campus, the school offers fully subsidized, full-day, Montessori-inspired preschool for children in the community.

Eligible families are entered into the lottery-based selection and families will be notified of lottery outcomes on May 5

Health Care Services
Primary health care services are available to students enrolled at any of the Alamo Colleges through Wellness 360 clinics, in partnership with UT Health San Antonio. Available to students with and without health insurance, the program will provide treatment for allergies, colds, and other minor health issues.

Technology Resources
Technology resources, such as laptops rentals, are available for any currently enrolled Alamo Colleges student in need of reliable computer access. These resources are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students needing a laptop for academic use are encouraged to visit the Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) Information Technology (IT) Department located in the Comal Learning Resource Center, Room 124, to request information about the laptop rental process. IT staff are available to assist with availability, eligibility requirements, and checkout procedures.
If you are unable to visit in person, you may contact the NLC Information Technology Department by phone at (210) 486 – 5777, Option 3 for assistance or additional information regarding laptop rentals.
Students should contact their home college’s Information Technology department during their hours of operation (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.).
Baby Changing Station
Baby Changing Stations are available throughout the Northeast Lakeview College campus for use as needed.
- Brazos Student Union – 1st Floor: Baby Changing Stations are available in both the Men’s and Women’s Restrooms.
- Comal Learning Resource Center – 1st Floor: Baby Changing Stations are available inside the Men’s and Women’s Restrooms.
- Lampasas Performing Arts Center: Baby Changing Stations are available inside the Men’s and Women’s Restrooms.
- Paluxy Hall - 1st, 2nd, 3rd Floor: Baby Changing Stations are available inside the Men’s and Women’s Restrooms.

Tutoring
Our colleges offer a variety of FREE tutoring services students need to succeed academically.
Scholarships
The Alamo Colleges Foundation distributes financial awards from nearly 20 academic scholarship funds to support students raising children or other dependents. By submitting just one application each academic year, students with children will be considered for these scholarships and many more.
Academic Advising
Texas Education Code § 51.982 (SB 459) extends early registration for parenting students if the institution of higher education provides early registration for any group of students in the same manner.
Student parents at Northeast Lakeview College can connect with Academic Advising for personalized support with course planning, degree requirements, transfer preparation, and registration. Advisors are available to meet in person or virtually to help you create a plan that supports your academic goals while balancing your personal responsibilities.
