Federal Work-Study
Students must qualify for financial aid, designate SAC as their home campus, and be enrolled for 6 hours (at least 3 hours must be at SAC out of the 6 hours required). As an Alamo on the Job Paid Intern, you can expect to gain hands-on career experience with job shadowing, assisting and contributing to a team project, career training to increase your skill set, an assigned mentor, and networking opportunities. City of San Antonio Ambassador Summer Internship
The Ambassador Summer Internship Program is an internship program for currently enrolled college students sponsored by the City of San Antonio. The program exposes students to professional opportunities and innovative career paths through paid internships, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities.

Extern’s mission is to help anyone discover and launch their career through professional experiences, available anywhere, at any time. They made this possible by inventing a new form of work experience with integrated learning – the remote Externship.

City staff worked with industry leaders to create a website that would empower students looking for local internships that fit their career goals and employers looking for local talent.
Parker Dewey (Short-Term Paid Projects)
Parker Dewey are short-term, paid, professional assignments off-campus. (Does Not Require Financial Aid) *DACA FRIENDLY*
Unlike traditional internships, Micro-Internships can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off. Micro-Internships are used by companies ranging from those in the Fortune 100 to emerging start-ups and go across departments including sales, marketing, technology, HR, and finance.
Specialized Resources
On June 15, 2012, the Secretary of Homeland Security announced that certain people who came to the United States as children and meet several guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of 2 years, subject to renewal. They are also eligible to request work authorization. Deferred action is an exercise of prosecutorial discretion to defer removal action against an individual for a certain period of time. Deferred action does not provide lawful status.
On Aug. 30, 2022, DHS published the DACA Final Rule, with the intent to preserve and fortify the DACA policy. This rule, which puts into effect regulations at 8 CFR 236.21-236.25, rescinds and replaces the DACA guidance set forth in the 2012 Memorandum issued by Secretary Napolitano.

Federal law prohibits issuance of professional licenses to immigrants who don’t have a documented status unless a state passes a law making them eligible. Several states have passed laws providing professional licenses for immigrants with and without work authorization, e.g., California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, and New Mexico. Native Pathways Employment & Training Program
Ysleta del Sur Pueblo
Native Pathways serves low-income, unemployed, or underemployed Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiians through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
The program is responsible for assisting Native American participants to prepare for and obtain high-quality or career-based employment opportunities that will result in increased family income and financial security.
To meet its goals, Native Pathways has established long-term relationships and collaborations with various job-training providers such as vocational and educational institutions, employer partners, regional workforce development boards, and various job development or ancillary agencies.
To be eligible for this program you must:
- Be a member of a Federally Recognized Tribe and
- Reside within the Service Area (any of 122 West Texas counties) and
- Be unemployed, underemployed (earning a wage below your skillset or working part-time but desiring full-time employment), low-income, or seeking job training assistance
