What is the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Manufacturing Technician program?
The program provides students with entry-level skills as a Precision Machinist in the Manufacturing Sector. The CNC Manufacturing Technician Program provides instruction in the programming, set up, and operation of CNC Machine tools. Students will get hands-on learning by operating Turning Centers and Vertical Machining Centers.
What will I learn?
First, you will learn how to read and interpret Blueprint, apply basic GD&T concepts, utilize precision measuring tools, material properties, concepts in Quality Assurance, and manual production machining on Lathes & Mills.
Next you proceed to CAM based 3D modeling and machine toolpath programming. Then students proceed to set up and operation of CNC Machine tools: CNC Turning Centers and CNC Machining Centers.
What can I do with this course of study?
Precision Manual Machinist, CNC Machine Tool Operator, CNC Programmer, and Machine Tool Setup Technician.
What's special about program?
The CNC program is designed to prepare students for manufacturing employment opportunities as both Manual Machinists and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) professions. The program provides training in a climate-controlled state-of-the-art manufacturing training lab. Students will learn how to model components on 3D CAD/CAM software like MasterCAM and Solidworks. Students will do set up and operation on HAAS CNC Vertical Machining Centers and HAAS SL 10 Turning Centers.
The CNC Manufacturing program also houses the Alamo Academies Dual Credit Advanced Technology Manufacturing Academy (ATMA).
Students will do set up and operation on HAAS CNC Vertical Machining Centers and HAAS SL 10 Turning Centers.
