Bowden Legacy Building (BLB) - To continue honoring the contributions and legacy of a St. Philip’s College prolific figure, Saint Artemisia Bowden, the Bowden Building named in her honor in 1954, is now the Bowden Legacy to differentiate from the St. Artemisia Bowden Center for Excellence. This building is currently under renovation.

Renaming for the building was approved by the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Ribbon cuttings will be announced.

Cybersecurity Innovations Center (CIC) - To support the pipeline of San Antonio’s cybersecurity industry, the renaming of the Campus Center reflects its innovative new purpose as a data center, multi-purpose room, visualization room, collaboration center, interactive display technology classroom, and Heritage Room. In addition, the building will be a central hub for government, university, and industry partners in the cybersecurity field.

Renaming for the building was approved by the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Ribbon cuttings will be announced.

Watson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theatre Addition--
The 20,000 square foot wing attached to the Watson Fine Arts Building will house a 200-seat blackbox theater, dressing rooms, and set and costume storage. A $1 million donation from HEB helped make the long-planned project possible.

The Saint Artemisia Bowden Building is a 25,000-square-foot, two-story replacement building for the existing facility that accommodates the Business Information Solutions Department, Corporate and Entrepreneurial Training Center, the Microsoft Testing Center for Microsoft Office Specialists and a cyber range. Programming supports the high demand for cybersecurity graduates to fill positions in San Antonio, the nation’s second-largest cyber hub. The building includes classrooms, computer labs, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance [VITA] Center and staff offices.

Artemisia Bowden, the daughter of emancipated slaves led the institution from 1902 to 1954 and, in 2015, was named a Holy Woman by the Episcopal Church.

The Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center of Excellence is a four-story, state-of-the-art facility that is vital in supporting San Antonio’s $15.2 billion tourism, hospitality and culinary industry. This building doubles training capacity meaning more students have access to culinary learning opportunities at a reasonable cost -- four times less than its nearest competitor.

“Artemisia’s,” on the fourth floor, is designed to give guests a fine dining experience and a gorgeous view of downtown. 1898, on the first floor, is a working kitchen and lab for culinary, pastry and hospitality management students.

Culinary supplies are supported by Department of Education Federal Funds under Title III, Parts B&F.

The extensive renovation of the Clarence Windzell Norris Building began in 2019. The facility was built in 1970 and originally completed with three floors. A fourth floor was added in 1972. The building was named in 1975 in honor of Dr. Clarence W. Norris Sr., then Dean Emeritus. In March 2020, the Alamo Colleges District Board voted to grant President Emeritus status posthumously to Dr. Norris for his 30 years of dedicated service to the college. In addition, the Board voted to rename the Norris Technical Building to the Clarence W. Norris Building, to reflect its current use. It houses the Reading and English departments, Instructional Technology and the Information and Communication Technology department. It is also host to the Learning Lab, Reading Lab, Tutoring and Technology Center (TNT) and the Rose R. Thomas Writing Center.

The new Welding Auto Collision Building is located at the St. Philip’s College Southwest Campus. At 62,000-square-foot, the new facility will host advanced instructional welding and autobody labs, welding stations, and double bay automotive prep stations. The one-and-a-half floor building is expected to welcome students for the fall 2022 semester.

The collision repair industry is dynamic and the increased complexity of vehicle design will assure continued growth and a positive job outlook for graduates of the program.

The 57,000-square-foot facility will replace the existing college fitness center built in 1949. The two-story gymnasium and natatorium will include an elevated track, short course swimming pool, therapy pool, weight and cardio training spaces, aerobic studio, a cardio studio, teaching labs for kinesiology, first aid/ CPR, massage therapy, gathering spaces and staff offices. The building will be completed in fall 2021.
